We’re looking for Darwin’s new voices to speak at October Business Month 2024!
We’re inviting Darwin’s event bookers, industry peak bodies and events professionals to be introduced to Darwin’s next generation of speakers and presenters in a TEDtalk style format of short talks on a wide range of topics of their choice.
As part of our mission to increase the entrepreneurial capacity of the Northern Territory and the confidence of it’s people, we’re looking for fresh voices from all generations to receive free training over four months before a live rehearsal and a major inspirational speaking event at Darwin Innovation Hub during NT October Business Month 2024.

Practice your talk in front of your peers & friends
Deliver your talk at October Business Month
Our judges will award the major prize on the night
Select your topic based on your expertise or passion and begin planning your content
Learn the structure of your 10-minute talk and how to research your content
Our trainer will work with you to develop your storytelling and make your talk engaging
Deliver it at a special live rehearsal in front of your peers in the program and invite your friends for support.

Meet the Trainer
I’m Dante St James. As a very experienced public speaker, presenter, former media personality and trainer, I’ve watched as the pool of professional speakers in the Territory has become less diverse, harder to engage with and more repetitive.
As someone who has been blessed to make it to many stages around the Territory and Australia, I want to share a stage with new and up-and-coming voices so they can be introduced to an audience, connected with booking agents and events organisers and get the speaking experience they need.
I can’t wait to get started on New Voices 2024 as the first of what I hope is an annual event in the Northern Territory.

We will be closing the program to new participants after Session 2 on July 13.
Prize Details
To be eligible to win the prize, the entrant must attend at least 50% of the training sessions organised and be present at both the rehearsal and the gala event to qualify.
The judges decision is final. No protests will be entered into.
The prize is offered as one prize of $2000 of paid speaking bookings at local events in 2025 sponsored by Speakstarter (ABN 30371085535) in the form of 4 x $500 speaking events, 2 x $1000 speaking events or 1 x $2000 speaking event. The sponsor will offer these opportunities to the winner in 2025, providing at least 14 days notice before each opportunity. The winner may decline any opportunity presented.
To be eligible, the winner must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and provide an invoice for the speaking events accepted at the conclusion of the event. This invoice will be made out to Speakstarter c/o Dante St James.
The judges for the event are chosen from the events industry, government and the arts. They will be provided scoring criteria from the organiser.
While this event will take place during October Business Month, this competition and event is not endorsed by nor affiliated by the Northern Territory Government.
